New Mayo Clinic Diet

The New Mayo Clinic diet has spread across various states and regions and is very popular. But the Mayo Clinic says that the diet with its name has not originated at the clinic and also not approved by Mayo clinic. However, Mayo Clinic diet, as the myth continues from around 1940s, has proved itself so worthy that it is the main reason behind millions of pounds lost.

This is the diet that is supposed to be the Mayo clinic diet at various eating times:

BREAKFAST

  • Two eggs cooked in any style
  • Half a cup of grapefruit juice..
  • One or two slices of bacon .
  • Coffee or tea, without sugar.

LUNCH

  • Half a cup of grapefruit juice.
  • Salad and/or raw vegetables (any dressing)
  • Meat (Cooked in any way)

DINNER

  • Half a cup of grapefruit juice.
  • Meat (cooked in any way)
  • Vegetables (green or red, great when cooked with butter or with seasoning)
  • Black coffee or tea without sugar

BEDTIME (Optional):

  • Tomato juice or skimmed milk.

Special Instructions:

  • People who have taken up mayo clinic diet can eat until their stomach is full, which means that no food is allowed between any two complete meal.
  • One should consume exactly as the diet is mentioned. Nothing more and nothing less is allowed. Elimination of certain foods spoils the dietary balance, which doesn’t result in burning the fat.
  • The grapefruit is very important as it acts as a catalyst, which starts the burning process.
  • Coffee is allowed only while consuming the milk. It should be avoided unnecessarily or when one feels down.
  • Fat does not allow the formation of fat; instead it helps to burn it. So, one can use butter on vegetables generously.
  • Desserts, breads and sweet potatoes should be avoided at any cost. White onions, potatoes, peas, celery, cereal, carrots, corn, bread, noodles, starchy vegetables, rice, potato chips, fruit or diet dressing also should be avoided.
  • Helpings of meat, vegetables or salads can be doubled or tripled. When you have settled down to eat something, eat completely and sumptuously. The more you eat, the more you will lose weight.
  • Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.
  • This diet is specifically given to those who need to lose weight suddenly. For instance, it is suggested to heart patients who are required to lose weight rapidly before a surgery.
  • It has been found that in those this diet has been successful, there was no specific weight loss found in the first four days. There might be a sudden change in weight on the fourth of fifth day. From the next day on, a gradual decrease in the weight can be found. This helps you to set a goal and work towards it.

Some suggested eatables:

Red onions, bell peppers, broccoli, radishes, cucumbers, green onions, spinach, tomatoes, cabbage, green beans, mayonnaise, lettuce, cheese, hot dogs, regular salad dressing, and green leaf vegetables.

It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you stay on diet for 12 days and give a gap of one or two days before commencing it again. STAY ON DIET 12 DAYS AND STOP FOR 2 DAYS.

Though there has been much hype around Mayo Clinic Diet it has not yet been proved that it does work. However, there is no guarantee that it doesn’t work too.
