How to Overcome Emotional Eating Disorder

In recent years it has been observed that there is a constant rise among emotional eaters. There are many reasons that attribute to this fact and change in lifestyle, stress, loneliness etc are some of the factors. People manage with food to deal with their emotions.

Types of eating disorders-

There are basically two types of eating disorder namely anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. In the former case people deliberately starve themselves as they are convinced that they are obese or overweight. This starvation is due to extreme fear gaining weight that in some cases leads to hospitalization and even death. The later kind is negative variety of overeating and gorging. It may lead to vomiting and irrational ways of controlling weight. People make secretive measures in combination to purge and often shy away in dealing in a practical way.

It can be treated if the symptoms are diagnosed at an early stage. Family support plays a large part in this.
