Food Items You Should Eat:

These are the names of certain food items that you should eat when you are suffering from this disease. These are:


– You can eat all fresh, canned, frozen or dried fruit/fruit juices. In case of vegetables also you can have all types of fresh/canned vegetables.


– You can go for all types of fresh meat, poultry, fish, and shellfish.


– Food items like corn, arrowroot, pea, potato, rice, soybean, or tapioca starch or flour; pure corn tortillas, cornmeal, hominy, popcorn; potato chips; rice noodles, rice wafers, puffed rice can be taken.

Dairy/dairy products

– You can have skimmed milk and milk products like yogurt, American cheese, and all aged cheeses like Swiss, Cheddar, and Parmesan.


– You can have margarine, vegetable oils and homemade salad dressings.


– You can eat any sweet item made up of brown and white sugar like; jelly, gelatin. Honey and fruit ice can also be taken.


– Drinks like pure coffee, tea fruit juices, mineral water, unfortified wines and vermouth, rum and cognac.

Food Items You Should Avoid:

Given below is a list of the food items that you should avoid. These are:


– Fruits that are prepared with thick cream/condensed milk or any creamed or breaded vegetables are harmful for you. Avoid them.


– Thickly prepared meat/fish like breaded meat/fish, meatloaf, meat patties etc.
Other preparations of meat/fish with wheat, oats, rye, barley or gluten stabilizers such as cold cuts, frankfurters, sandwich spreads, sausages etc should be avoided.


– Breads made from oats, rye, wheat, barley, buckwheat, or graham. Other sold out items of bread like biscuits, cornbread, muffins, pancakes, waffles, pastry, pizza dough, regular noodles, macaroni, spaghetti, and other pastas. Cereals containing wheat, rye, oats, barley, bran etc are also harmful. So, avoid them.

Dairy/dairy products

– Drinks like chocolate milk and, malted milk, cereal beverages like Ovaltine and Postum. Other dairy products like processed cheese/cheese spreads, milk creams etc should not be taken.


Salad dressings and mayonnaise that are sold in the market, cream sauces thickened with flour are some fat and oily products that you should not include in your diet.


– Cakes, donuts, pastries, ice cream, ice cream cones, pies, puddings/pudding thickened with flour are some sweet dishes that are harmful for you.


– Instant coffee/tea, alcoholic beverages like whiskey, gin, vodka, sherry, beer, and malt liquor are not suitable for you. Avoid them.’>
