Which Foods are good for Reproductive System?

Around 6 million women in the US become pregnant every year and the same numbers of people suffer from infertility problems. This is because of an unhealthy reproductive system. Foods for Strong Reproductive System

1. Fruits and Vegetables

These are the foods that are full of antioxidants, as well as vitamin C and beta carotene. The antioxidants defend your body against diseases and infections, including some forms of cancer. They also protect the sperm from harmful toxins that lead to reduction in fertility. Beta carotene, a type of vitamin A that is found in carrots, kale, spinach, and cantaloupe, apart from vegetable soups and carrot juices, helps in reproduction process. Vitamin C-rich fruits and veggies such as green and red bell peppers, tomatoes, citrus fruits, winter squash and spinach, are good for making the body immune to many diseases and infections such as common cold.

2. Fishes and Seafood

They are important for a healthy heart. They provide enough fat-free proteins which are alternatives to processed and fried red meats. They also provide enough vitamin D than most other foods. Vitamin D leads to low sperm count and infertility. Cold-water fishes, such as sardines, salmon, halibut, mackerel, albacore tuna, and flounder are rich sources of essential omega-3 fatty acids. They promote cardiovascular health as well as brain function, apart from promoting normal hormone production, good sperm count in women and development of eggs in women.

3. Whole Grains

With too little or too much body fat, there will be a reduction in fertility. Therefore, instead of restricting carbohydrates, consuming whole grained foods, such as whole grained breads, oatmeal, cereals, wild rice, brown rice, popcorn and barley, is recommended. These are good sources of fiber that keep your stomach full between meals. This makes it easier for you to lose excess fat. These foods also provide excess amounts of vitamin B. The B-vitamin Folic acid or Folate allows healthy physical growth during pregnancy. It is also important for preventing birth defects in babies.

4. Pulses

Plant-derived proteins, present in lentils, soybeans, tofu, split-peas and beans, are good for a sound reproductive system. They contain less saturated fat and cholesterol than meat-derived proteins. Those who ate diets rich in plant-derived proteins rather than animal-derived proteins were more likely to become pregnant as they did not suffer from infertility.
