Rosemary Conley–The Hip and Thigh Diet

Posted on June 2, 2010 in Diet-Trends, Diet-Types

Rosemary Conley is the proud owner of a successful chain of fitness clubs across England. Her Hip and Thigh Diet is targeted at the tricky areas of weight loss, mostly the hips and thighs. This diet is a result of her personal problem with overeating and the hardship she faced with weight loss. This diet is a combination of low fat and low GI and an exercise plan not only to lose weight but also loss of inches.

This diet contains a balanced combination of carbohydrates, fruits, fats and vegetables. Conley believes that potatoes and pasta (which are a no-no in many of the diets), in fact, taken in moderation, fill up your stomach and act as appetite suppressants.

This diet is targeted at losing 7 pounds in the first 14 days (Phase I) followed by Phase II until the targeted weight loss is achieved.

Conley’s diet works for all ages, right from the 20s to those past their 60s. Since this has flexible menus, it works well for the vegetarians and the non-vegetarians. An additional feature of this diet is the exercise plan that helps in burning the extra calories enabling us to reach our goals early.

The Diet Itself
The diet is a very low calorie-low fat diet just approximating about 1200 calories.

Each day you are allowed to take
Half a pint of semi-skimmed or skimmed milk
100 mL of fruit juice
One alcoholic drink, this is optional.

Breakfast would consist of a cereal, fruit, cooked/continental dish
A typical meal would include fruit, lean meat/poultry, legumes, unlimited vegetables, starchy carbohydrates in medium amount.

Forbidden Foods of HIP and THIGH Diet
All types of nuts and seeds
All oils
All dairy with the exception of skimmed milk, low fat cottage cheese, low fat yogurt
Butter and spreads

The diet plan consists of a combination of over 35 varied breakfast recipes, over 80 lunch recipes, and 30 dinner (vegetarian) recipes; this is definitely going to be a king’s feast.

Experts’ Viewpoint
The best aspect of this diet is that weight loss is very impressive with more emphasis being placed on inch loss from the problem areas and not just the weight loss shown on the scales that makes this diet quite interesting! Also, emphasis is placed on exercise, and the diet combines a hip and thigh workout to better deal with the inch loss.
