We all enjoy noodles.Their origin is in the east.This article is about a famous Japanese noodle called Udon and its health benefits.
What is a Noodle?
A Noodle is a food item made from mixing flour, grains and little amount of water.It is either refrigerated or dried. Noodles are cooked in boiling water.
Types of Noodles:
Based on the primary ingredient,noodles are of many types.They are:
• Wheat Noodles
• Buckwheat Noodles
• Rice Noodles
• Mung bean Noodles
• Potato Noodles
• Acorn Noodles
The Udon Noodle:
Udon is a thick Japanese wheat noodle. Japan learnt about Udon noodles from the Buddhist priest who travelled to China.
Health Benefits of Udon Noodle:
• Udon is low in fat and high in complex carbohydrates. In this way, it is a source of sustained energy.
• It is a source of high quality proteins. The Brown rice Udon contains amino acids of ordinary wheat and rice too.
• Udon is famous in Japan because of its digestibility. It is proved in Laboratory that Udon can get digested three times faster than beef.
• Japanese scientists believe that Udon has this property because of the Kneading process of the flour during its manufacture where it gets enriched in proteins and starch molecules.
• Udon retains body heat . It is because of its quick digestion which do not allow large amount of blood to rush in to the stomach.
• It is experimentally proved that Udon creates body heat , which makes it the favorite Japanese food in winter.
• People suffering from Flu also prefer Udon because it digests quickly, provides energy, warmth and keeps the white blood cells busy fighting Flu.
