Microbiotic diet is ideal for all those who believe in “eat healthy to be healthy concept”. Though microbiotic diet plan does not aid in weight loss but it definitely promotes overall health. This diet plan is helpful in combating various diseases like asthma, cancer, psoriasis and others. Besides that microbiotic diet plan is effective in restoring body’s detoxification process. This diet plan can be adopted by non-vegetarians as well as vegetarians.
Discussed below is the basic microbiotic diet plan which can be followed by obese people to aid weight loss as it is rich in whole grains, fruits and veggies.
- Soy and soy products forms the integral part of microbiotic diet plan. Soy is a rich source of phytoestrogens which are effective in maintaining normal cholesterol levels, healthy menopause and preventing breast cancer.
- According to microbiotic diet plan, each meal should contain at least 50-60 of whole grains. You can go for corn, barley, brown rice, millet, rye or buckwheat. Microbiotic diet plan allows occasional serving of rolled oats, pasta, bread and noodles.
- Vegetables are next inevitable part of microbiotic diet. At least 20-30% of each meal should consist of baked, boiled or steamed vegetables. 1/3rd of vegetables must be consumed in raw state.
- Besides vegetables, fruits also hold important place in microbiotic diet plan. Fresh fruits like grapes, berries, peaches, pears, melons and apricots should be included in your diet whereas tropical fruits like mangoes and pineapples are avoided.
- 1-2 bowls of soup must be included in your daily microbiotic diet plan. Try to include fermented soybeans in your soup.
- Around 10% of your daily diet must be of tofu and other bean products. But make sure that bean products are cooked well and in little oil.
- Microbiotic diet recommends dark sesame oil as cooking oil but you can even go for light sesame oil, mustard oil or corn oil.
- To add flavor to your food you can use seasoning like brown rice vinegar, grated ginger, fermented pickles, and roasted sesame seeds, sea salt or sliced scallions.
- Microbiotic diet plan allows small serving of seafood each week. While preparing seafood add moderate quantity of horseradish herb and ginger, this will trigger detoxification process.
- Small portion of desserts especially made from nuts and apple are permitted in microbiotic diet plan.
- Microbiotic diet plan does not permit in take of eggs, poultry, meat, honey, chocolate, sugar and molasses.
