Many of us feel lethargic in spite of eating regular food. Have you thought, why? In an ideal scenario, the food that we eat regularly should provide us with enough energy to last all day long. While some food can give us an immediate energy boost by spiking our blood sugar, there are foods that can give sustained energy over a period of time. So while selecting energy-boosting diet, you may select food that is the right mixture of both the categories.
Diet to Fight Fatigue
Listed below are some energy-boosting foods that you may consider:
- Oats as Food to Fight Fatigue: It is suggested that being high in dietary fiber and carbohydrate, oats can take a long time to digest. This can slow down glucose absorption into our blood stream, thereby providing steady but slow release of energy and checking fatigue.
- Bell Peppers to Reduce Fatigue: Experts recommend bell pepper because of its rich source of vitamin C content. It is suggested that vitamin C can help in activating cellular metabolism to produce energy.
- Banana to Check Fatigue: It is suggested that banana is a rich source of both simple complex carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrate can give sudden energy spike, while complex carbohydrates can provide long lasting endurance. Moreover, banana is a rich source of three natural sugars – glucose, fructose and sucrose.
- Green Tea to Control Fatigue: Experts recommend drinking green tea regularly for mental alertness and fighting fatigue. It is suggested that green tea is rich in theophylline that can stimulate the central nervous system and boost alertness. But, unlike coffee, green tea may not drain you off your energy.
Finally, if it is possible, you may consider taking a ‘power nap’. This can help in reversing mental fatigue. Controlling stress and anxiety can also help in counteracting mental and physical exhaustion.
