But did you ever asked this question: why breakfast is considered to be most important meal of the day? There are number of health benefits of eating breakfast, hence it is considered to be the most important meal.
Breakfast is the first meal you eat after night long fast hence it is the most important meal. Even being the most important meal of the day generally people tend to miss or skip their breakfast. According to research statistics ¼th women between the age group of 25-37 skips their breakfast regularly. There are number of scientific studies to support the benefits of eating breakfast. What should your Healthy Breakfast Consists of?
After getting the answer to the above question the next question arises is: what should a healthy breakfast consist of? Basically a healthy breakfast should contain a variety of foods as it will ensure proper consumption of all the essential nutrients. You need to make sure that your breakfast should contain foods like low fat dairy products, fresh fruits, whole grains, etc. All the above mentioned food groups provide you with complete package of proteins, complex carbohydrates and essential quantity of fat. For a complete healthy breakfast you need to select one item from each food group.
- Dairy Products: You can opt for skim milk, low fat cheese, low fat yogurt, natural cheese, etc.
- Vegetables and Fruits: You can choose any fruit or vegetable of your choice. You can even consume it in the form of juice or as whole fruit or vegetable.
- Protein: The best sources of protein during breakfast are peanut butter, boiled or fried eggs, slice of lean meat, etc.
- Whole Grains: You can eat bagels, brown bread, low fat bran muffins, rolls or cold or hot cereals.
It is observed that people tend to skip breakfast thinking that they are cutting down their calorie intake. But the fact is that breakfast skippers do mindless nibbling and snacking during the day and put on extra weight. Hence make it a point to eat breakfast before leaving for work. Besides eating breakfast it is also essential that you choose sensibly healthy food for breakfast. Go for fruits, whole grains for breakfast instead of fat filled scones, doughnuts, cookies, etc. Make sure that you never skip most important meal of the day- Breakfast.
